Presidential Polls: Latest Gallup Poll 2012 Results Shows Obama Won Final Debate Posted: 27 Oct 2012 02:18 PM PDT Latest Presidential polls by Gallup showed that US President Barack Obama was judged as the winner of the third and final Presidential debate over Republican candidate Mitt Romney last Monday, October 22, 2012 at the Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida. The 2012 US Presidential elections will be held on November 6. Presidential Poll 2012 Image Credit: Gallup The latest Gallup Presidential poll was conducted last October 23 to 24. About 69 percent of Americans Gallup who answered the survey indicated that they watched the final debate. Based on the viewers response, Obama won with 56 percent over Romney‘s 33 percent. Obama has won the last two presidential debates after Romney beat him during the initial debate. Winning the second and third debates enabled Obama to overcome his reported poor performance during his first encounter with Romney. During the third debate, the Democratic and Republican presidential candidates were asked about topics concerning foreign policy. |
Posted: 27 Oct 2012 10:44 AM PDT The Rasmussen Reports daily presidential polls for Saturday, October 27, 2012 revealed that Mitt Romney now leads over President Barack Obama by 4%, among likely voters; a day after Romney enjoyed a three-percentage points edge. On Friday, October 26, Romney had 50% and President Obama only had 47%. According to the Rasmussen Reports this Saturday, Mitt Romney had attracted 50% of voters across the US, while President Obama only had 46%. Two percent choose other candidates, and another two percent are undecided. This is the fifth consecutive day that Romney has been at the 50% level of support, and has enjoyed a three- or four-point edge on each of those days, with results being updated daily at 9:30 a.m. ET. As noted in the report, this is the fifth consecutive day that Romney has been at the 50% level of support, enjoying a three- or four-point edge against Obama on each of those days. After the first debate, Obama had 49% and Romney had 47%, but the votes went the other way around after the second and third debates. Meanwhile, Rasmussen Reports revealed that Obama and Romney were tied at 49% each in Wisconsin last Friday, a result confirmed by the fact that both presidential candidates and their running mates Joe Biden and Paul Ryan have visited the Badger State, a nickname for Wisconsin, where Obama won by 14 points in 2008. Ninety-six percent (96%) of Wisconsin voters told Rasmussen they are sure to vote in this election, with Romney having 51% to 47% among them. Romney had 51% while Obama earned 48% from among the 90% who said they are now sure whom they will vote for this coming November 6 presidential election. On the other hand, the Rasmussen Reports Electoral College projections currently show that President Obama has 237 Electoral Votes and Romney with 206, noting that winning number for presidency is 270. Mitt Romney Chrysler’s Jeep production moving to China claim not true, Chrysler says Posted: 27 Oct 2012 08:22 AM PDT Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney on Thursday, October 25, 2012 said in his political campaign rally in northern Ohio that he learned a report saying that Chrysler is considering transferring its production of Jeep from US to China. But Chrysler later issued a statement, contrary to what Romney has claimed. Mitt Romney, shaking hands with supporters during his campaign in Ohio (October 25, 2012) Image Credit: Justin Sullivan/Getty Images As noted at BarackObama.com, President Barack Obama‘s official political website, on Friday, October 26, Mitt Romney shamelessly tried to scare voters into thinking that Jeep is moving its production to China and will take jobs away from the US, and emphasized that Romney‘s claim is absolutely not true. “I saw a story today that one of the great manufacturers in this state, Jeep, now owned by the Italians, is thinking of moving all production to China. I will fight for every good job in America, I’m going to fight to make sure trade is fair, and if it’s fair, America will win.” Mitt Romney was quoted in his speech in Ohio. According to the report, the 65-year old former Massachusetts governor was believed to have referred a story at Bloomberg News on Monday, October 22, 2012, titled “Fiat Says Jeep Output May Return to China as Demand Rises,” quoting a statement made by Mike Manley, the President and CEO of the Jeep brand. “Chrysler currently builds all Jeep SUV models at plants in Michigan, Illinois, and Ohio. Manley referred to adding Jeep production sites rather than shifting output from North America to China.” A statement reads at Bloomberg.com, adding that the automaker is targeting 500,000 annual sales outside North America by 2014. With this, Chrysler issued a statement saying that Bloomberg made a clear and an accurate report about the stand of Jeep, and that it is the “birth to a number of stories making readers believe that Chrysler plans to shift all Jeep production to China from North America, and therefore idle assembly lines and U.S. workforce.” “Let’s set the record straight: Jeep has no intention of shifting production of its Jeep models out of North America to China. It’s simply reviewing the opportunities to return Jeep output to China for the world’s largest auto market.” Gualberto Ranieri wrote at Blog.Chryslerllc.com on Thursday, October 25. “U.S. Jeep assembly lines will continue to stay in operation. A careful and unbiased reading of the Bloomberg take would have saved unnecessary fantasies and extravagant comments.” Ranieri added, noting that moving Jeep production from US to China would be “a leap that would be difficult even for professional circus acrobats.” |

Matt Lauer ‘surfs’ NYC streets on his way to NBC, arrives late at work for the first time (Video) Posted: 27 Oct 2012 05:58 AM PDT Matt Lauer ‘surfs’ on the streets of New York City on his way to NBC on Friday, October 26, 2012, as shown in the video below, and arrived late for his work, his first time ever. He later apologized and explained that he was just trying a new way to commute go to his work. Matt Lauer, ‘surfing’ in NYC street Image Credit: NBC’s Today video As aired at NBC‘s Today show on Friday morning, Matt Lauer, wearing a complete work suit, rode a motor-operated surfboard and “surfed” down 49th street on his way to work. He was seen “arriving” late for his work in the show. The stunt was being believed to attract viewers against its competitor, ABC‘s ‘Good Morning America‘. “Where in the world is @MLauer? Not in his seat – show starts in 7 mins. Looks like I’m doing @todayshow alone.” Savannah Guthrie (@SavannahGuthrie) tweeted on Friday, along with a link to a photo of an empty chair of Mitt Lauer, who “arrived” at Studio 1A minutes after the broadcast began. “Good morning and welcome to a freaky Friday. I have to say this is a very unusual way to start the show, there is no Matt. But apparently he is on his way, and I think we do have a camera with him outside." Guthrie told the televiewers when the show started, and video showing Lauer “surfing” was shown. “The waves on Madison were huge. It was a little rough getting across Central Park.” Matt jokingly told Savannah when he arrived on the studio, after removing his helmet. He was seen grabbing a cup of hot coffee and later a newspaper from a stranger as he surfed his way to work. Apparently, Lauer‘s surfing was the idea of viral video artists James Percelay and Michael Krivicka whose company ThinkModo created a similar film to promote the movie ‘Chasing Mavericks,' who were later both being interviewed on the show. NHL games cancelled until November 30 over labor dispute Posted: 27 Oct 2012 03:58 AM PDT The National Hockey League (NHL) games have been cancelled until November 30, 2012, after the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) between the NHL Players’ Association (NHLPA) and the NHL was not reached, marking the third cancellation of the NHL season games since the start of the lockout last month. National Hockey League (NHL) logo Image Credit: NHL.com According to the post at NHL.com on Friday, October 26, 2012, the NHL has already lost a total of 326 regular-season games, or 26.5 % of its 2012-13 regular-season schedule set from October 11 to November 30. The announcement came a day after the deadline that the NHL has set to settle the labor dispute. “The NHL deeply regrets having to take this action. By presenting a proposal to the NHLPA that contemplated a fair division of revenues and was responsive to Player concerns regarding the value of their contracts, we had hoped to be able to forge a long-term CBA…” NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly was quoted at NHL.com. “We acknowledge and accept that there is joint responsibility in collective bargaining and, though we are profoundly disappointed that a new agreement has not been attained to this point, we remain committed to achieving an agreement that is fair for the Players and the Clubs.” Daly added, noting that 82 season games would have been preserved if the CBA was settled. “The league officially informed us today that they have withdrawn their latest proposal and have cancelled another slate of regular season games. This is deeply disappointing for all hockey fans and everyone who makes their living from hockey, including the players. But it comes as no surprise.” NHLPA Executive Director Don Fehr said. “Last week, the owners gave us what amounts to a “take-it-or-leave-it” proposal. We responded with the framework for three proposals on the players’ share, each of which moved significantly, towards their stated desire for a 50-50 split of HRR, with the only condition being that they honor contracts they have already signed.” Fehr added. Last September 19, NHL announced the cancellation of the first preseason schedule through Sept. 30. The 2012 Kraft Hockeyville preseason game, which was scheduled for October 3 in Belleville, Ontario, was moved to 2013. A week later, the rest of the pre-season NHL games have been announced cancelled. On October 4, the NHL announced the cancellation of the first 2 weeks of the NHL season games due to the lockout. The third week games, or additional 53 NHL games, were announced cancelled on Friday, October 19, affecting the games until November 1, while the next talks have not been announced as of this writing. |

Most Breastmilk Donated Guinness World Records award given to Alicia Richman of Texas Posted: 26 Oct 2012 11:52 PM PDT Alicia Richman, of Grandbury, Texas, was recently awarded by the Guinness World Records for her record of the most breastmilk donated, which went to Mothers’ Milk Bank of North Texas (MMBNT), a nonprofit organization founded in 2003 that aims to collect breastmilk donation for critically ill and premature babies. Alicia Richman of Texas, showing her Guinness World Records award for the ‘Most Breastmilk Donated’ record Image Credit: TexasMilkBank.org/ Guinness World Records As noted by TexasMilkBank.org on its press release on Wednesday, October 24, 2012, Alicia Richman has donated 11,115 ounces (around 86.8 gallons) of her breastmilk from June 9, 2011 to March 28, 2012. She was awarded last month by the Guinness World Records for the most breastmilk donated, surpassing the earlier record of another American woman by more than 3,000 ounces. According to the report, Richman, 28, who gave birth to her first son in March 2011, said she realized she had more than enough to feed her son when he was already 10 months old. Her two freezers were full of pumped breastmilk in plastic bags and bottles, and she has to decide on what to do with the excess milk. “I was so blessed to have more milk than I needed. I pumped at work, on vacations, in the car. And I never had to buy formula. I started searching the Internet to find out what I could do with these freezers full of milk, and that’s when I learned about the Mothers’ Milk Bank of North Texas.” Richman was quoted in the report. “Alicia‘s generous gift of human milk has fed hundreds, and more likely, thousands of premature babies across the United States. Three ounces of donor human milk could be as much as nine feedings for a premature baby.” Amy Vickers, executive director of the Mothers’ Milk Bank of North Texas, said. “We know that she’s changed lives all over Texas and beyond, and we are proud to see her earn this recognition from Guinness World Records.” Vickers added, with Richman noting that she still plans to donate her extra breastmilk when she gives birth again, and will try to break her own record. |
