| State Department fire: Flash Fire Injures Four, Says District of Columbia fire officials Posted: 24 Nov 2012 02:24 PM PST  State Department fire quickly put out Image Credit: NBC Washington A fire broke out of the US State Department headquarters in Washington District of Columbia at around 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 24, 2012. Lon Walls, a spokesman for Washington‘s fire department, said four construction workers were injured by the flash fire that reportedly started in a ductwork at the 8th floor. Reports by CNN said that workers inside the building were able to put out the fire even before the firefighters arrived in the area. However, an individual suffered a life-threatening injuries while three others suffered minor injuries. All injured workers were admitted at the Washington Hospital Center. Walls clarified that there were only a few federal employees in the building when the fire broke out because of the holiday weekend that started on Thursday’s Thanksgiving Day.      |

Streets After It Escapes From Handlers Posted: 24 Nov 2012 11:46 AM PST  The camel that roams Calif. streets Image Credit: ABC News A camel roamed the streets of a Southern California city after it was able to escape from its handlers, international news sites reported on Saturday, November 24, 2012. According to reports, the camel is a part of the Ramos Bros. Circus and the incident happened on Black Friday in the afternoon. "Literally there was 10 people running after this camel, it was craziness on the street, I heard kids yelling and screaming," witness Diana Madison reportedly told KABC, ABC News Los Angeles Station. The camel was lured back to the circus with a carrot after it ran into a gas station, reports said. Douglas Ramos, co-owner of Ramos Bros. Circus jokingly said in an interview: “You know, we do this every day. This time I guess she just wanted to go shopping or something, I don't know. Black Friday deals.”    |

According to reports, the house, as shown below, is owned by Luo Baogen and his wife. Luo, a duck farmer, said that his family spent 600,000 yuan ($95,000) on his newly completed house when the government offered him to move out for 220,000 yuan ($35,000). The offer has gone up to 260,000 yuan ($41,000) but they still refuse the offer. Most of their neighbors already moved out, their properties demolished, to make way for a highway heading to a newly built railway station on the city of Wenling in Zhejiang povince. Reports said that Luo‘s house still has electricity and water. He and his wife sleep in separate parts of the house to deter any partial demolition. Such house is also called a “nail house,” because the owners refused to be hammered down by the government, reports said. According to a Newsday report, the $430K silver Colonial Massachusetts coin was reportedly found by an anonymous woman in a potato field in East Hampton, New York. One of eight known to exist, a metal detector was used to find the rare coin 23 years ago. Reports say that the auctioned value of the sixpence is about four times the expected price by auction officials. According to reports, Mayor Akers said that he is working with the Coast Guard to see if the roller coaster is stable enough to leave it alone because he believes it would be a great tourist attraction. Meanwhile, businessmen along the boardwalk started rebuilding because they believe that people want to come back to the shore. Mayor Akers reportedly said that a new boardwalk will be ready in time for Memorial Day as construction begins in January.    |
