The latest presidential polls by Gallup revealed that majority of Americans believe that US President Barack Obama will win the 2012 US Presidential elections against Republican nominee Mitt Romney on Tuesday, November 6, 2012. These results is in contrast with other presidential polls that indicate a tight battle on Election Day.

Gallup‘s national adults survey results showed that Obama may be on his way to a second-term at the White House as he enjoys a 54 percent winning odds against Romney‘s 34 percent. The published report indicated that the latest results were the same during the month of May and August.

These presidential poll was conducted from October 27 to 28, days before Gallup suspended its daily tracking poll due to outages in key US states brought about by Hurricane Sandy.

Woman’s $18K mistake causes her to overpay her $18 Southwest Gas bill

Posted: 03 Nov 2012 10:50 AM PDT

A woman’s $18K mistake has caused to overpay her bill to Southwest Gas, which led her to financial trouble. This is after she accidentally added an extra zero while paying online for her gas bill last month. Nevertheless, the gas company later said that the excess money she paid will be returned to her soon.

As reported at Fox 10 News on Friday, November 2, 2012, Debra Tupper, a hairstylist in Anthem, Arizona, made a mistake while making an online payment for her Southwest Gas bill. She was supposed to pay $18.29 only, but she entered $18,069 instead, an error that she admitted and could happen to anyone.

“The first person I spoke to with Southwest Gas informed me that they would look into it and it would be credited to my account. I don’t know who would use $18,000 in gas in a lifetime — it certainly wouldn’t be me. I live alone. I’m single.” Ms. Tupper told the report, with her bank being emptied for nearly three weeks.

“I have no money in my accounts. I’m getting overdrafts. I can’t pay any of my bills. I got a loan — a personal loan from a girlfriend — just to keep my accounts…have some living money.” She added, warning everyone to be extra careful when paying online bills, as a simple mistake like hers could be so stressful.

However, the report said later that Southwest Gas spokeswoman Amy Washburn has sent a statement to them, saying that the company sympathizes with the woman, and that they have already talked to her; and told her that they are doing their best to return her excess payment, as soon as possible.

“We are pleased that all funds are expected to be returned to the customer within the next few business days. As always, Southwest Gas is committed to delivering exceptional safety, service and reliability to our customers and the communities we serve.” A statement from the gas company reads on the report.

Rasmussen Presidential Polls 2012: President Obama and Mitt Romney tied at 48%, 49% each in Ohio

Posted: 03 Nov 2012 08:48 AM PDT

Rasmussen Reports released its latest presidential polls for Saturday, November 3, 2012 and showed that President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney are still tied at 48% each, the same with the result yesterday, Friday, and with only three days left before the US presidential election.

According to a post by the Rasmussen Reports this Friday morning, both presidential candidates have attracted 48% each of likely voters across the US. One percent (1%) prefers some other candidate, while two percent (2%) remain undecided. Romney was leading by 3 percent last week.

As noted in the report, forty-six percent (46%) said they are certain to vote for Romney, while 45% said that they are sure they will vote for the President Obama, with Rasmussen presidential polls being conducted to 1,000 likely votes across the US per night for the final week of campaign.

“It’s somewhat surprising that heading into the final weekend of the election season, we are unable to confidently project who is likely to win the White House. But the race for the White House remains close because of the economy.” Scott Rasmussen wrote on his column at RasmussenReports.com last Friday.

Meanwhile, Rasmussen polls last Thursday for Ohio likely voters reveal that Obama and Romney are tied at 49% each. Two percent (2%) said they prefer some other candidate, while one percent (1%) is undecided, with Ohio being one of the eight Toss-Up states in the Rasmussen Reports Electoral College Projections.

On the other hand, Rasmussen polls for Michigan likely voters, also for last Thursday, show that President Obama had 52% against 47% for Mitt Romney. One percent (1%) prefers some other candidate, and another one percent (1%) is undecided. The survey was conducted to 750 people, same with what was done for Ohio.

Single mom no tip on $138 bill receipt goes viral, receives mixed reactions on Reddit (Photo)

Posted: 03 Nov 2012 03:58 AM PDT

A single mom in the US reportedly paid for $138 bill for a single meal but left no tip, and apologized in the receipt, as shown in the photo below. The story was first featured in the social site Reddit, and is now going viral; and was even reported in various news sites including the Huffington Post, Daily Mail, among others.

“Single mom sorry.” A handwritten note reads on the Tip portion of the receipt that had a bill of $138.35. “Thank you, it was great.” The single mom wrote at the bottom. Her identity and the restaurant that issued the receipt were not known, with the story earning mixed reactions at Reddit commentators.

“I'm sure $140 could have gotten you and your kids a week worth of groceries, but instead you spend it one one meal?! For shame!” PhenixSongFawkes wrote, who uploaded the photo at Reddit on Monday, October 29, 2012. Some commentators agreed with him, saying that the woman was being selfish that time.

“Why is it so hard for people to understand what I’ve been saying over and over? The point of this post wasn’t to complain. It was to show that someone was ridiculous enough to come into a place, and use the fact that they are a single mom to not tip. Then to say everything was great.” PhenixSongFawkes added.

Apparently, there were also those questioning the authenticity of the receipt, which includes Lindsay Cross, a blogger for Mommyish.com, who admitted that she also has been a single mom for a few years. She said she could not believe that the receipt was real, noting that no one can ever do such a thing.

“Honestly, the more I think about how anyone would do this to a waitress, the more I think it’s likely that this was just a very awful prank to make single moms look bad. We’re well aware that our waitress could be a single mom herself. And we’re normally pretty quick to help out others who are working hard.” Cross wrote.

“I guess what I’m saying is that I really don't want this picture to be real. I want it to be a big fake so that I don’t have to feel embarrassed on behalf of single mothers. Because if this really happened, whether it was a single parent or not, it’s horrible and rude and the very worst.” Cross added.

Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban offers Donald Trump $1 million on Thursday, November 1, 2012, if he will shave his head, as shown in the video below. His challenge is his response to Trump‘s $5 million offer to US President Barack Obama last week if he will release his college transcripts and passport application.

“The offer he made for $5 million, that was one of the dumbest things ever. But I thought about responding to him, maybe if I put up a million or two million, if he’ll shave his head?” Mark Cuban said in an interview at FOX 4 News on Thursday night. He is the first one to publicly dare Trump after the $5 million Obama offer.

Donald, you shave your head, $1 million to any charity you want,” Cuban added, as he talks directly to Mr. Trump with his finger pointing in front of the camera. He was then promoting his team’s match against Charlotte Bobcats this coming Saturday, and has not endorsed any candidate for the November 6 presidential election.

Trump, 66, who is also the owner of the Miss Universe Organization, and executive producer and host of the NBC‘s ‘The Apprentice’ formally announced his $5 million offer to President Obama last October 24, which he said will go to any choice of charity. The deadline had already expired and Obama did not accept the challenge.

Last week, President Obama appeared at ‘Tonight Show with Jay Leno’ and joked about their feud and said it goes all the way back to childhood in Kenya. Donald Trump has not yet released his comment on the Cuban $1 million offer to him to have his hair shaved, as of this writing.
