The Apple event was held on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 and started at around 1 p.m. ET, as announced earlier. Apple unveiled their new products, including the new Retina MacBook Pro, the iPad mini, the iPad 4, and the new iMacs.

As shown live at Apple.com on Tuesday afternoon, Apple CEO Tim Cook started the event by talking about the iPhone 5 and showed a video of people all over the world falling in line to buy the latest iPhone. He also announced that there are now 200 million devices being powered by iOS 6, and that 1.5 billion books are now in Apple‘s bookstore.

Later, Phil Schiller, Apple‘s Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing, unveiled the new 13-inch Retina Display MacBook Pro, which he said is 0.75 inches thick, or 20 percent thinner than the earlier previous version. It weighs 3.5 lbs (1.58 kg), making it the “lightest MacBook Pro ever,” which will cost starting at $1,699 and starts with 12 GB of flash memory.

Among the key features of the new MacBook Pro that Mr. Schiller mentioned include having a high-definition camera for FaceTime videoconferencing camera and dual microphones, an Intel dual-core processor, and a 7-hour battery life. The 15-inch version will start at $2,199, while the non-Retina display costs $1,199.

Schiller also introduced the new Mac Mini, which has Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, with Ivy Bridge processors and up to 16 GB of RAM, adding that the Mac Mini with 500 GB storage drive will cost $599, and $999 if the user chooses the one with a media server. The shipment of this new device will start right after the event.

Apple also unveiled the new iMac, which features a new fusion drive and combines a Flash drive and standard hard drive. It is 5 millimeters thick, thinner than the earlier versions. The 21.5-inch iMac with 1 TB hard drive costs $1299 and shipping starts next month, while the 27-inch costs $1799 and shipping will start this December.

After Mr. Cook went back to the stage and discussed the sales of the iPad, which he said had 100 million have been sold in 2 1/2 years; he re-introduced Mr. Schiller, who unveiled the iPad 4, which sports a 9.7-inch Retina display, new Apple-designed A6X chip, FaceTime HD camera, and 10 hours of battery life.

The iPad 4 with Wi-Fi models will also sold starting Friday, November 2, and will be available in black or white for a suggested retail price of $499 for the 16GB model, $599 for the 32GB model and $699 for the 64GB model. The iPad 4 with Wi-Fi + Cellular will be available at AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon.

On the other hand, the smaller iPad, or the so-called iPad mini, sports a 7.9-inch display with 1024 x 768 resolution, a dual-core A5 chip, an HDTV front-side camera, and a 5-megapixel iSight camera on the front. It weighs 0.68 pounds and is 7.2 mm thin, which is 23% thinner than the standard iPad.

The iPad mini with Wi-Fi will be sold starting Friday, November 2 and will cost $329 for the 16GB model, $429 for the 32GB model and $529 for the 64GB model. Models will be available in black & slate or white & silver. Pre-orders for both the iPad 4 and iPad mini will start on Friday, October 26, 2012.

James Blunt quitting from music rumors spark; singer denies, jokes on Facebook

English singer and songwriter James Blunt reportedly announced that he is quitting, but he later denied the reports and is apparently only joking when he said that he will quit. Blunt has already sold more than 18 million albums, and his first studio album titled ‘Back to Bedlam’ is the best-selling album of the 2000s in the UK.

According to Daily Mail on Sunday, October 21, 2012, James Blunt was interviewed by their reporter while he was at the relaunch of nightclub Barbarella in Fulham, West London, and he said that he is now quitting from doing music. The 38-year old “You’re Beautiful” singer was then his girlfriend, model Sofia Wellesley.

“I just want to take some time out for myself. I haven’t got any plans to do more songwriting. I have been chilling out since I finished my world tour and I’ve spent a lot of time in Ibiza, where I have a villa.” Blunt was quoted telling to the Daily Mail reporter.

“Sofia and I had a great time hanging out with friends on my yacht but we partied as well. I do like a good night out and that is why it’s great fun to hang out at Barbarella. London needs more nightclubs like this.” Blunt added, who have already won two Brit Awards, two MTV Video Music Awards, among others.

However, a report at BBC America this Monday titled “Has James Blunt Quit Music For Good?” saying that James Blunt is not quitting from the music industry and has even no plans of retiring early. The link of the said report was posted by the singer on his official Facebook page and Twitter account (@DirtyLilBlunt) that day.

“James was speaking to a journalist at the opening of Barbarella in London‘s well-to-do Fulham, and clearly did not want to spend a long time talking shop, not while he could be having a drink and a dance with his girlfriend Sofia. So, he pretended there isn’t going to be a shop any more.” BBC America‘s Fraser McAlpine wrote.

“The Mail on Sunday has reported that James Blunt has split up due to musical differences. Neither could be reached for comment due to recording commitments – at Conway Recording Studios.” Blunt jokes on his official Facebook page, and provided a link from his Twitter account.

The Apple event (or the so-called iPad mini event) will be broadcast live at Apple TV and on its official website, which will happen this Tuesday, October 23, 2012 and will start at 10 a.m. PT (1 p.m. ET). Apple.com store is now down temporarily, saying that “We’re busy updating the Apple store for you and will be back soon.”

As announced by Apple on its official website on early Tuesday morning, a new channel appeared on Apple TV called Apple Events, where the much-awaited Apple event will be shown. But for those who do not want to watch it there, the same Apple event will also available at Apple.com.

According to Apple, the event on their website requires Safari 4 or later on Mac OS X v10.6 or later; Safari on iOS 4.2 or later. For Apple TV users, they should have the second- or third-generation Apple TV with software 5.0.2 or later, in order for them to capture the ‘iPad mini event’ as it happens.

Meanwhile, Apple decided to shutdown its online store in preparation of their media event while its location at San Jose‘s California Theatre. The company sent an event invitation to the media last week, with the tagline, “We’ve got a little more to show you,” where they are being expected to announce their new products.

As reported earlier, latest Apple rumors said that Apple is likely to unveil the iPad mini, which may be available in 16 different iPad mini configurations. 9 to 5 Mac reported last Saturday that they believe that the smaller iPad will most likely to cost from $250 for the 8GB to $650 for the 64GB.

In addition, Apple is also being expected to announce the new 13-inch Retina Display MacBook Pro, a refreshed iMac, Mac Mini, the iPad 3.5 with the new 8-pin Lightning dock connector, as well as an updated version of iTunes and iBooks.

Donald Trump is reportedly making an announcement about US President Barack Obama after his final Presidential debate against Republican candidate Mitt Romney on Monday, October 22, 2012. Trump‘s Obama announcement will be made on Wednesday, October 24.

During an interview over the phone on Monday’s “Fox & Friends,” Trump said that “I have something very, very big concerning the president of the United States.” Trump explained that he “will be announcing it sometime probably Wednesday and it’s going to be very big.”

When asked if his announcement can change the outcome of the US Presidential election, Trump replied that “It’s very big—bigger than anybody would know.”

Reports say that it seems that nobody is taking Trump seriously at this point. Americans are still busy discussing the recently concluded last debate before Election Day on November 6.

Clark Kent quits from The Daily Planet in the new Superman comics issue

Clark Kent quits from his job at The Daily Planet, which will be featured in Superman issue 13, the latest Superman comics issue by DC Comics, which will be out on Wednesday, October 24, 2012. Kent is Superman‘s alter ego, and has been working as news reporter in that company since his debut back in 1938.

As noted at USA Today on Monday, October 22, 2012, Clark Kent quits his daily newspaper job as part of the new twist created by new Superman DC Comics writer Scott Lobdell, who also wrote Red Hood and the Outlaws, the new DC Comics superhero team title which was launched as part of The New 52.

“This is really what happens when a 27-year-old guy is behind a desk and he has to take instruction from a larger conglomerate with concerns that aren’t really his own,” Scott Lobdell told the paper, who was also nominated for Favorite Writer award in the Comics Buyer’s Guide Award in 1997.

“Rather than Clark be this clownish suit that Superman puts on, we’re going to really see Clark come into his own in the next few years as far as being a guy who takes to the Internet and to the airwaves and starts speaking an unvarnished truth.” Lobdell added, noting that it is not the only twist in the Superman issue 13.

“Superman is arguably the most powerful person on the planet, but how long can he sit at his desk with someone breathing down his neck and treating him like the least important person in the world?” Lobdell explains further, emphasizing that Kent is more likely to start the next Huffington Post or the next Drudge Report.

Meanwhile, Lobdell noted that Superman will be pushing his power to the limit in this Superman edition, along with a new Kryptonian threat that acts as a prelude to the “H’el on Earth” story line. The writer said that “H’el will be a pretty horribly tragic character” and will be worst than other villains including as Lex Luthor.

World Series 2012 Schedule: San Francisco Giants vs Detroit Tigers games schedules list released

The schedules for the World Series 2012 for the San Francisco Giants vs Detroit Tigers games has been released by the Major League Baseball (MLB), which marks the latest edition of the Fall Classic. The complete list of schedule for her Giants vs Tigers best-of-seven games is available below.

As noted at MLB.com this Tuesday, October 23, 2012, the first two Giants vs Tigers baseball games on Wednesday, October 24 and on Thursday, October 25, to be held at AT&T Park, in San Francisco. The third and fourth games will be at Comerica Park, in Detroit, on Saturday, October 27, and on Sunday, October 28.

Nevertheless, if there will be no winning sweep during the first four games, Game 5 will be on Monday, October 28 and will still be in Detroit. In case there will be a need for Game 6 and 7, they will be held on Wednesday, October 29, and Thursday, November 1, respectively. The last two games will back at AT&T Park.

Back in the World Series 2011, it was between the Texas Rangers and the St. Louis Cardinals playing for the best-seven games, where the Cardinals won against the Rangers (4-3) to win their 11th World Series championship. It was the first World Series to finish all the seven games since 2002.

They won the World Series 2010, after beating the Texas Rangers (4-1).

Meanwhile, the Detroit Tigers, which have already won four World Series championships (1935, 1945, 1968, and 1984), and won the American League Championship (ALC) Series over the New York Yankees last Thursday, October 18, 4-1. It will be their first World Series appearance since 2006, when they lost to St. Louis Cardinals.

The first Iron Man 3 full trailer, as shown in the video below, has been released by Marvel Studios on Tuesday, October 23, 2012, as promised earlier after the release of the Iron Man 3 trailer teaser last Sunday. The new Iron Man movie is the sequel of Iron Man 2, which will be released in the US on May 3, 2013.

“When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle.” A statement reads on the YouTube description, with Ben Kingsley as The Mandarin, the new villain, is being shown for the first time.

“As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?” The statement added, where Robert Downey Jr reprises his role as Tony Stark, aka Iron Man, along with Gwyneth Paltrow as Virginia “Pepper” Potts.

In the full Iron Man 3 trailer, The Mandarin can be heard saying that he considers himself a teacher, and noting that Lesson # 1, “Heroes, there is no such thing,” along with the action-pack scenes with explosions and computer graphic effects, and the new Iron Man suit dubbed as the Mark XLVII.

The Iron Man 3 movie, which will be released in Digital 3D and RealD and will be shown in UK on April 26, 2013, also features Guy Pierce as Aldrich Killian, Rebecca Hall as Dr. Maya Hansen, Don Cheadle as Lt. Colonel James “Rhodey” Rhodes, among others; directed by Shane Black and and distributed by Walt Disney Pictures.

Coke Zero Skyfall free tickets challenge to James Bond fans in train station goes viral (Video)

Coke Zero gave away free tickets to the movie Skyfall to unsuspecting train passengers who can complete a task, as shown in the video below, which is now viral. The test was made as part of the upcoming release of the new James Bond movie ‘Skyfall‘ in UK on Thursday, October 26, 2012.

As noted at ZDNet on Monday, October 22, 2012, the Coke Zero Skyfall free tickets challenge was filmed in in the central train station in Antwerp, Belgium, as a promotional campaign for the 23rd James Bond movie, which will have its premiere at Kensington Gore in London, England, this Tuesday, October 23.

The 2-minute Coke Zero Skyfall test YouTube video, which was uploaded on Thursday, October 18 and has nearly 3.8 million views as of this writing, shows the busy train station where a female violinist is playing the Skyfall song, the official James Bond movie theme song sung by Adele and is now available at iTunes.

“Want the chance to win exclusive tickets to Skyfall?” The machine asks those who buy Coke Zero from the machine and later require them to enter their names. “Go to Platform 6. You have 70 seconds to unlock the 007 in you.” Hidden cameras were placed at the station to film the participants as they ran to the platform.

Apparently, there are a lot of obstructions before the Skyfall fans reach Platform 6, which include a floor cleaner on the bottom of the stairs while his cleaning tools are blocking the escalator; a gorgeous woman in red greeting them as if they know them; and two men jogging on the next escalator.

In addition to cause their delay, there is a woman on the stairs bringing along with her a number of small dogs, two workers carrying a long glass plate window; a bunch of oranges falling on the floor. Another woman can also be seen holding a tablet showing the remaining time to add pressure to the participants.

The last obstacles for them include fallen boxes on the floor, passers-by, and a man selling flowers to them. Upon the reaching the platform, a man inside the Coke machine can be seen holding a paper which reads, “Unlock the 007 in you. Sing the Bond tune to get your exclusive ticket.”

Meanwhile, the 007 Skyfall movie, which will be released in the US on Friday, November 9, 2012, stars Daniel Craig for his third portrayal of James Bond, along with Javier Bardem, Dame Judi Dench, Naomie Harris and Ralph Fiennes, among others; and is directed by Sam Mendes.

Horses and bayonets phrase went viral over the internet after the third and final US Presidential debate on Monday, October 22, 2012. The latest 2012 presidential debate is the last major event pitting the US President Barack Obama against Republican candidate Mitt Romney before the Election Day on November 6, 2012.

Romney reportedly challenged Obama that the US navy is “too small and has fewer ships than it did in the First World War.” Obama countered Romney by saying that “we also have fewer horses and bayonets.” The Democrat President added that “We have these things called aircraft carriers, where planes land on them. We have these ships that go underwater, nuclear submarines. And so the question is not a game of Battleship, where we’re counting ships.”

The Obama phrase instantly spread over social networks and online forum. The hashtag “horsesandbayonets” reportedly became one of the trending keywords at Twitter. Over 50 Facebook pages were already created on the most popular social networking site.

Discussions about the final presidential debate was also dominated by the horses and bayonets of US President Obama.

As aired at ABC on Monday night, wherein the show was cut for one hour to give way for the the Obama-Romney presidential debate, Carrie Ann falls on the floor while showing her excitement after watching Giles and Peta danced to Rumba to the tune of Whitney Houston‘s “I Will Always Love You.”

“Let the baby making begin!” Carrie Ann excitedly said, but later fell from her chair as she continues her comments. The incident was captured live and seen on TV, with show host Tom Bergeron and Gilles Marini rushing in to help her get up. Gilles hugged Carrie Ann, who later waved to the crowd and said she is fine.

“Me too! Me too!” fellow panelist Bruno Tonioli screamed later and pretended to drop across the judges table; but was only making fun with Carrie Ann‘s fall. Marini approached him and gave him a smooch on the face. Although the crowd became worried, they later clapped after learning that she has recovered.

“When you said let the baby-making begin, I didn’t think you’d get in position,” Bergeron told Carrie Ann, with ABC later showing the replay of her fall, and the DWTS host said that her chair now has airbags. She later gave a perfect score to Marini and Murgatroyd, and the pair had a total score of 29.5/30.

Meanwhile, only five DWTS All-Stars performances were only aired at night, including the Team Call Me Maybe, which also received one point shy from perfection. The other performances are to be taped later that day, but will be aired this Tuesday, and there will be no elimination night this week.
