IN the last day of our pilgrimage to Guadalupe, Mexico City, our tour guide brought us to the cathedral of Mexico City. What was amusing was the altar on which the statue of St. Raymund Nonato stood.

Instead of rows of candles lighted in front of the saint, there were big and small padlocks, clamped an on iron stand. Our guide explained that the locks were offerings of devotees imploring St. Raymund to stop certain people from gossiping, telling lies, making false accusations, and nagging.
