| Posted: 09 Nov 2012 09:28 AM PST Nestle USA announced on Thursday, November 8, 2012 a voluntary recall of certain lots of their Nesquick Chocolate Powder products due to a potential risk of Salmonella contamination, which has been coordinated with the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The complete list of affected products can be found below.  Nestle Nesquick Chocolate Powder 40.7 oz Image Credit: FDA.gov According to the announcement at FDA.gov that day, the Nestle Nesquick recall affects those in the 10.9, 21.8 and 40.7 ounce canisters, which was produced during early October, 2012 and was distributed across the US. There have been no received reports of any related illnesses or adverse health effects. As noted in the announcement, Nestle was notified by an ingredient supplier, Omya Inc. that it recently recalled certain lots of its calcium carbonate due to possible presence of Salmonella. This calcium carbonate is being used in Nestle Nesquick Chocolate Powder as one of its ingredients. “Nestle is dedicated to the health and safety of its consumers. For these reasons, the company initiated this voluntary recall. We apologize to our consumers and sincerely regret any inconvenience created by this incident.” A statement reads at NestleUSA.com. Meanwhile, consumers who may have possible bought the recalled product are being strongly suggested to immediately stop eating them and return it to the place of purchase and ask for a full refund. | Spinach Recall 2012: Fresh Express recalls spinach products due to Salmonella scare Posted: 09 Nov 2012 08:24 AM PST Fresh Express Incorporated of Charlotte, North Carolina announced a spinach recall on their 9-oz package product on November 7, 2012 due to a potential risk of Salmonella contamination, which has been coordinated with the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).  Fresh Express logo Image Credit: FreshExpress.com According to the announcement at FDA.gov that day, the Fresh Express spinach recall affects products with a Use-by Date of November 7 and Product Code of S299B25, which can be both found in the upper right corner on front of the package; and that no other Fresh Express products are included in this recall. As noted in the report, the recall was called upon after a random sample test made under U.S. Department of Agriculture has resulted positive result for Salmonella. Fresh Express customer service representatives are already informing all affected retailers to ensure that the said product has been from their shelves. The company noted that the recalled product was primarily distributed in various US states, with the possibly affected areas include Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington State, and Wyoming. Although there were no illnesses or consumer complaints have been reported to Fresh Express in relation to this recall, the company strongly suggests that consumers who may have possible bought the recalled product should dispose them immediately instead of eating them. This is two weeks after Bay denied the ‘Mark Wahlberg Transformers 4 role’ rumors. He has directed the first three Transformers films. We had a blast working on ‘Pain and Gain‘ and I’m so fired up to be back working with him. An actor of his caliber is the perfect guy to re-invigorate the franchise and carry on the Transformers‘ legacy.” Michael Bay was quoted in the report, who will direct the fourth movie of the Transformers. As noted in the report, the filming of Transformers 4 will start next spring and will be produced by Don Murphy, Tom DeSanto, Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Ian Bryce, with Steven Spielberg, Michael Bay, Brian Goldner, and Mark Vahradian, as executive producers; and to be distributed by Paramount Pictures. According to reports, the twin boys were born at the Siaya District Hospital in Nyanza province, Western Kenya. “I named the first twin Barack and the second one Mitt,” Owuor was quoted as saying by Reuters news agency. On the early part of his speech, the newly re-elected president said that his campaign workers, who are in their 20s and 30s, reminded him during the time when he was a community organizer in Chicago and was as young as them then, and recalls his hardships that time. “It’s not that you remind me of myself; it’s that you’re so much better than I was. You’re smarter and you’re better organized and you’re more effective. What Bobby Kennedy called the ‘ripples of hope,’ when you throw a stone in the lake, that’s you.” President Obama said on his more than 5-minute speech. “And that’s why even before last night’s results, I felt that the work that I had done in running for office had come full circle. Because what you guys have done means that the work that I am doing is important. And I’m really proud of that. Just recently, Sears made an announcement on their website that their Black Friday Deals offer will start 5 days earlier than other retail stores like Walmart, Best Buy, and Target. Sears customers can shop the store’s Black Friday “doorbuster” discounts online starting November 18, five days before the retail holiday. “We’re making the search for that perfect holiday gift easier, more convenient and rewarding this season,” said Imran Jooma, senior vice president of Sears, in a press release as quoted in a report. According to Marshal Cohen, chief industry analyst at the NPD Group, “retailers rely on the early consumer because their wallet is full,” and Sear’s move puts it first in line, a position every retailer is gunning for. “The early consumer is clearly the most profitable one and gives you longevity.” Marshal Cohen was quoted saying in a report.
