A baby elephant rescue was conducted along the Zambezi River near Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, according to a report by the Daily Mail on Friday, November 9, 2012.

The baby elephant was reportedly discovered stuck in a pool of mud by a group of tourist.

A rescue team reportedly reached the area with the elephant already deep down the mud up to its neck.

Rescuers estimated that the elephant may have been stucked in the mud for 12 hours. They needed about 200 liters of water to cool down the baby elephant and soften the mud.

According to Bradley White, a lodge owner in Victoria Falls, when they “arrived on the scene it was apparent that the young elephant had been trapped in the early hours of the evening before. Amazingly he survived at least 12 and a half hours of this tragedy before being seen.”

White explained that the incident is not new as “Elephants are particularly drawn to these areas and when moving toward the luscious vegetation, they become stuck and sink deep into the mud, causing them to dehydrate and loose blood circulation to their legs.”

Last month, a dramatic elephant rescue from a well was also conducted in Kenya.

Chrysler Recall 2012: Chrysler recalls over 900,000 Jeep SUVs worldwide due to airbags problem

Posted: 10 Nov 2012 07:04 AM PST

Chrysler announced on Thursday, November 8, 2012 a voluntary recall to more than 900,000 Jeep SUVs worldwide due to airbags problem, involving around 744,822 vehicles in the US, 49,000 in Canada and 22,000 in Mexico, and the rest outside North America.

As announced by U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on their official website, the Chrysler recall involves Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles (2002-2004) manufactured February 13, 2001, through May 23, 2003, and Jeep Liberty vehicles (2002-2003) manufactured from January 9, 2001 to March 28, 2003.

According to the report, a component in the air bag control module may malfunction that will cause the front airbags, side curtain airbags, and/or seatbelt pretensioners to deploy inadvertently while the vehicle is in use, which may increase the risk of injury and a potential car crash.

Chrysler did not mention any reported incidents related to this latest Jeep recall, which is expected to start on January 2013, but noted that they will send to notification letter to the affected owners, and dealers will install a supplemental jumper harness to the airbag control module, with no extra charge.

For more information about this Chrysler recall, owners are being invited to contact Chrysler at 1-800-247-9753, or to call the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or to visit www.safercar.gov.

Facebook Obama slur causes Denise Helms, Cold Stone Creamery employee, to lose her job (Video)

Posted: 09 Nov 2012 10:43 PM PST

Denise Helms of Turlock, California was fired from her job at Cold Stone Creamery, an American ice company, over a so-called Facebook Obama slur, which also prompted an investigation by the US Secret Service. A video of interview to her by KTXL (Fox 40) is available below.

“And another 4 years of the n*****. Maybe he will get assassinated this term..!!” Denise Helms wrote on her Facebook page on Tuesday, right after President Obama was announced as the winner of the US 2012 election. The post was later deleted, but was circulated in Facebook and Twitter and earned criticisms.

“I didn’t think it would be that big of a deal. The assassination part is kind of harsh. I’m not saying I’d go do that or anything like that, by any means, but if it was to happen I don’t think I’d care one bit.” Helms, who have worked for Cold Stone Creamery for less than a year, told FOX40 on Thursday, but she did not apologized.

“Well, it’s not something I would dwell on. It’s not something I would be upset about,” Helms, 22, said, when she was asked if something bad would happen to President Obama, adding that she does not consider herself a racist.

Meanwhile, Cold Stone Creamery has already announced that Denise Helms was removed from her job. “The employee is no longer w/the company. We were as shocked as you were by her outrageous & completely unacceptable comments.” Cold Stone Creamery (@ColdStone) tweeted this Thursday.

The 36-year-old Bush is the nephew of former US President George W. Bush and son of former Florida Governor Jeb Bush.

Based on a statement by Tim Sorrells, general counsel for the Texas Ethics Commission, Bush submitted a campaign treasurer appointment that is required under the campaign finance law.

As of posting, the younger Bush has not revealed the state office that he will be seeking in the next US elections.

Reports say that Bush was raised in Florida but settled in the native home of former President Bush in Texas.

Bush is reportedly a US Navy Reserve with a Lieutenant rank since 2007, with a six-month deployment in Afghanistan.
