Reports say that an upside-down flag is usually a sign of protest or a political statement. McDonald’s upside-down flag may seem to be an expression of disapproval on the outcome of Tuesday’s presidential election results.

An anonymous McDonald’s employee reportedly told News9 that the upside-down flag position was the instruction of the owner.

Later, Huffington Post reportedly received an emailed explanation from McDonald’s franchise owner Karen Mezan. Below is Mezan‘s written statement.

Unfortunately, a flag cable broke and during the process of trying the fix the flag, it was inadvertently turned upside down. It wasn’t noticed that the flag was upside down until a customer inquired about it. We are working on fixing the flag right now. It's important to note that this was an accident, not intentional.

President 2016: Potential candidates include Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, Chris Christie, and Andrew Cuomo

Posted: 07 Nov 2012 06:58 AM PST

US President Barack Obama won the presidential election for the second time on Tuesday, November 6, 2012. He made his acceptance speech this Wednesday morning, and some observers are immediately making some speculations of some of the politicians who will likely run for president in 2016.

As noted at Wall Street Journal on Tuesday, US Vice President Joe Biden could be giving a hint that he may run in the 2016 presidential elections. The 69-year old former Delaware senator, who sought the Democratic presidential nomination back in 1988 and 2008, but dropped both of them, was re-elected in his post.

According to the report, Biden was asked on Tuesday morning if it will be the last time for him to vote for himself and he said ‘no.’ The vice president is now on his second term and cannot run again for the same position, which apparently lead to speculations of his possible ambition in 2016.

On the other hand, US Secretary of State and former First Lady Hillary Clinton is reportedly being urged by her friend to run for president in 2016, but she kept saying ‘no’ and the last time was when was interviewed in the Marie Claire magazine last month, when she was asked about it.

“No, I’m not…It has been an absolutely extraordinary personal honor and experience. But I really want to just have my own time back. I want to just be my own person. I’m looking forward to that.” Mrs. Clinton was quoted as saying, adding that she already has been in the politics and leadership for 20 years.

Mrs Clinton would certainly be available. After serving as First Lady, senator for New York and now Secretary of State, her curriculum vitae for a return to the White House, this time as president, is exemplary.” Alex Spillius wrote at Guardian this Tuesday.

Meanwhile, among the other potential 2016 presidential candidates are New Jersey Republican Governor Chris Christie and New York Democratic Governor Andrew Cuomo. These two opposite-party politicians are always being mentioned in the short list of candidates of their respective parties every presidential election.

In 2011, Christie considered entering the Republican Presidential nomination for the recent election but he later announced that he will not run. National Journal wrote this Tuesday that he may be better positioned to seek the presidency, and there are “signs that Christie wants the job.”

For Governor Cuomo, MercuryNews.com wrote also this Tuesday that he has kept a relatively low profile on the national political stage. However, he is being noted to be avoiding 2016 if Mrs. Clinton decides to run, although his handling of environmental and economic issues makes him a strong contender.

Democrat candidate Elizabeth Warren defeats Republican candidate Scott Brown in one of the most hotly contested election in Massachusetts senate race on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 as reported on Wednesday by Washington Post.

Warren gets ahead in the polls over the last few weeks proving herself to be a popular figure with Democrats across the country. Reports said that Warren is the first woman to be elected U.S. senator from Massachusetts.

The 63 year-old Warren led Brown by 8 percentage points, 54 percent to 46 percent with 91 percent of the precincts reporting.

“This victory belongs to you. You did this for every family that has been squeezed and hammered. We are going to fight for a level playing field and we are going to put people back to work. To all the small-business owners who are tired of a system rigged against them, we’re going to hold the big guys accountable.” Warren was quoted saying in a report to a raucous and jam-packed crowd at her headquarters in Boston.

“I will always carry your stories in my heart. I won’t just be your senator. I will be your champion.” she added.

Meanwhile, Brown said at the Boston Park Plaza hotel, just blocks from where Warren celebrated her victory that “defeat is only temporary” giving a strong hint in his concession speech that he might make another run for office.
