Lost, blind dog finds owners in Alaska after being lost for one week Posted: 26 Dec 2012 02:01 AM PST A lost, blind dog finds its owners back in Alaska, despite the cold winter with below freezing temperature and walked around 16 kilometers away from home. The amazing dog, named Abby, around 8 years old, reportedly got lost on Wednesday, December 13, 2012, but was able to return home a week later. As noted in the report, Grapengeter and her family have been searching within their neighborhood hoping to find Abby, until they received a call last Sunday, December 23. They learned that the dog returned and was temporarily living at the house of veterinarian Mark May, who lives near Nordale and Freeman Roads. “Everybody just assumed it was some kind of scardey cat, but there it was in front of the door in our dog lot and it was blind. It was sitting there, all the way from 14 mile on the winter trail down into this neighborhood, I guess by just sniffing, so I picked it up and brought it in.” Mr. May was quoted in the report, noting that he Abby in front of his house last Thursday, December 20. “It’s amazing. No frozen ears, no frozen toes, she’ll probably go back home and it’ll business as usual. She’s no worse for wear but quite an adventure.” The veterinarian added, noting that he saw the blind dog earlier but could not pick her up since he was with his dogs that time, hoping that the owners could find her. But since the blind dog had no tag or microchip, Mr. May could not locate the Abby‘s owner, and that’s the time they shared her photo on Facebook, until the neighbors of the Grapengeters saw it and recognized that it was their lost, blind dog. It was reunited to its owners, just in time for the Christmas Day celebration. “We’re so so grateful for all their hard work. This community is so amazing; we would have never seen her again if it wasn't been for the people. They’ve given us the most amazing Christmas gift we could ever ask for and we are all so grateful to them.” McKenzie Grapengeter reportedly said. |
Snoutless Dog “Kabang” Beats Cancer, Ready for Cosmetic Surgery Posted: 26 Dec 2012 12:55 AM PST Kabang, the Philippines’ hero dog who lost its snout after saving two girls in Zamboanga City, has beaten the cancer and is now ready for the cosmetic surgery, according to San Francisco Chronicle reports, December 26, 2012. Based on reports, Gina Davis mentioned, "There is no evidence of any remaining tumor." Davis is the primary care veterinarian at William R. Pritchard Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital. “As far as we know she has been cured of the transmissible venereal tumor", she added. The ‘snoutless dog’ Kabang was brought to the veterinary hospital through the donations from 20 countries caring for the dog, as well as posts from Facebook and Twitter accounts by people who were amazed by Kabang‘s heroic act. Also, the website careforkabang.com and pet lovers' blogs were part of the effort, with the mission to help and save Kabang. According to reports, Kabang is now at a nearby medical boarding facility for a forced bed rest in order to avoid dead worms circulating in her bloodstream. The last two doses of heartworm medicine are planned 24 hours apart, in the second week of January 2013. “It will be one to two months for her to recover from that before she goes in and has the surgery,” Davis added. |
The wrong Bethlehem? Real Jesus birthplace found, archaeologists suggest Posted: 25 Dec 2012 08:07 PM PST What if tons of tourists, especially Christians, feel if all the while, it will be proven that they have been visiting the wrong Bethlehem? Well, this is what a group of Israeli archaeologists seem to be suggesting, noting that they could have possibly dug the real place where Mary gave birth to Jesus. A woman, lighting a candle inside the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem Image Credit: AP According to a report at The Australian this Monday, December 24, 2012, a day before Christmas Day, Aviram Oshri, an Israeli archaeologist who works with the Israel Antiquities Authority and among those who have dug the place of what could be the real birthplace of Jesus Christ, explained their discovery. “I think the genuine site of the Nativity is here, rather than the well-known site near Jerusalem. Bethlehem in the Galilee was inhabited by Jews at the time of Jesus, whereas the other Bethlehem? There is no evidence that it was a living site, an inhabited area in the first century,” Oshri was quoted as saying. “It was inhabited by Jews. I know it was Jews because we found here remnants of an industry of stone vessels, and it was used only by Jews and only in the period of Jesus,” Oshri added, referring to the Bethlehem of the Galilee, where they spend ten years of digging, and is around 100 miles from from the “wrong Bethlehem.” “It makes much more sense that Mary rode on a donkey, while she was at the end of the pregnancy, from Nazareth to Bethlehem of Galilee which is only 7 kilometers rather then the other Bethlehem which is 150 kilometers,” Oshri explains further. And although the Israeli archaeologists have not found any evidence proving that Jesus Christ was born in the ‘correct Bethlehem,’ Oshri emphasized that they could have probably been destroyed by modern building work, noting that he will understand if Christians will not believe in his findings. |
