The $500 million checks contained in an envelope was reportedly found by a worshipper.

Rabbi Shmuel Rabinovitch, who oversees Jerusalem‘s Western Wall, confirmed that 507 checks worth $1 million each was left at the holy site.

The Rabbi thinks that those who wrote the checks may have “wanted to give all they had to the Creator of the universe.”

Micky Rosenfeld, Israeli police spokesman, revealed that the checks were from Nigeria, US, Europe and Asia.

The Rabbi explained that the checks were not addressed to anyone. He doubts if these million dollar checks can be encashed.

Rabinovitch said that in the past, they found similar checks mostly from Africa. However, they were not able to encash them because they all bounced.

Eagle Tries To Snatch Kid Video Is Fake?

Posted: 19 Dec 2012 07:48 AM PST

A video of an eagle that tried to snatch a kid in a park in Montreal, Canada went viral on Tuesday, December 18, 2012, as reported earlier. However, recent reports are saying that the video could be fake and probably computer-generated (CG).

Phil Poling, a Youtube user that goes by the name “ParaBreakdown“, enhanced the video and uploaded it on Youtube. “It wasn’t until after I uploaded my enhanced version of this video that I noticed this but, yeah, it’s CG,” Poling said on the video’s description.

“Notice how jerky the eagle and child move. The movements aren’t smooth like you would expect from a forward moving object. The background, however pans naturally and smoothly. The two don’t match up. Nor does the child stay in it’s relative position with the eagle. These are obvious signs of CGI,” Poling was quoted as saying by the Christian Post.

Meanwhile, the Black Swamp Bird Observatory in Ohio posted on its Facebook Page that the video is indeed fake:

“Hello Everyone, There is a video making the rounds on YouTube and social media right now that seemingly shows a ‘Golden Eagle’ swooping down to try and snatch a toddler. We want you to know that the video is a fake. This kind of publicity does so much damage to birds and we hope that if you see the video posted that you will inform people that it is not real.”

The original video, uploaded by Youtube user MrNuclearCat, already has 1.2 million views at the time of this writing.

Obama is Time Person of the Year 2012

Posted: 19 Dec 2012 07:01 AM PST

US President Barack Obama is Time Person of the Year for 2012, and not North Korea leader Kim Jong Un, who was voted by the magazine’s readers based on an earlier poll. Mr. Obama was also named Time Person of the Year back in 2008, after he won the election and became the first African American elected president.

As aired at NBC‘s Today Show today, Wednesday, December 19, 2012, Time magazine managing editor Rick Stengel announced that President Obama was named Time Person of the Year 2012, and cited his victory in his re-election bid last month beating Republican candidate Mitt Romney, as a major reason.

“He’s basically the beneficiary and the author of a kind of a New America, a new demographic, a new cultural America that he is now the symbol of.” Rick Stengel told the show, revealing the Time magazine showing the cover with the face of President Obama.

“He won re-election despite a higher unemployment rate than anybody’s had to face in basically in 70 years. He’s the first Democrat to actually win two consecutive terms with over 50 percent of the vote. That’s something we haven’t seen since Franklin Delano Roosevelt.” Stengel added.

“The final days of any campaign can alter the psyches of even the most experienced political pros. At some point, there is nothing to do but wait. Members of Obama‘s team responded in the only rational way available to them — by acting irrationally. They turned neckties into magic charms and facial hair into a talisman and compulsively repeated past behaviors so as not to jinx what seemed to be working.” Michael Scherer, a White House correspondent for Time, wrote at Time.com.

Earlier, Time revealed the shortlist of candidates for the Person of the Year 2012, which include Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi; Bill and Hillary Clinton, Yahoo! CEO Marissa Mayer, Apple CEO Tim Cook, the Higgs Boson and Italian physicist Fabiola Giannati, and Malala Yousafzai, the Pakistani teenager who was shot for advocating for girls’ education and has survived. Yousafzai was later named as runner-up.

According to a post by Instagram on its official blog today, Wednesday, December 19, they heard loud and clear that many users got confused and upset on the latest changes on their rules, particularly on the issue that effective January 16, 2013, users’ photos will be sold without their consent, and users will not be paid.

“As we review your feedback and stories in the press, we’re going to modify specific parts of the terms to make it more clear what will happen with your photos. Our intention in updating the terms was to communicate that we’d like to experiment with innovative advertising that feels appropriate on Instagram.” Instagram co-founder Kevin Systrom wrote on the blog post.

“Instead it was interpreted by many that we were going to sell your photos to others without any compensation. This is not true and it is our mistake that this language is confusing. To be clear: it is not our intention to sell your photos.” Systrom added, noting that Instagram is now working on updated language in their new Terms of Service.

“The language we proposed also raised question about whether your photos can be part of an advertisement. We do not have plans for anything like this and because of that we're going to remove the language that raised the question.” Systrom explained further, noting that the statements in questions will be removed.

As noted by Instagram on their new rules, users “agree that a business or other entity may pay us to display your username, likeness, photos…in connection with paid or sponsored content or promotions, without any compensation to you,” and that users “acknowledge that we may not always identify paid services, sponsored content, or commercial communications.”

Reports say that the pygmy right whale was already extinct for about two million years. The extinct whale is believed to be the last member of the mysterious cetacean group that is physically unique from other living whales.

Felix Marx, a paleontologist at the University of Otago in New Zealand, said that the elusive pygmy right whale is “the last survivor of quite an ancient lineage that until now no one thought was around.”

Pygmy right whale usually grows up to about 21 feet (6.5 meters) long. The unique marine mammal reportedly lives out in the open ocean. Scientists revealed that they do not have any information about the creature.

According to DNA analysis results, pygmy right whales is a diverse mammal from modern baleen whales that include blue whale and the humpback whale.

The ancient cetacean‘s skull reportedly resembles an ancient family of whales called cetotheres that emerged about 15 million years ago.
