| Japan Elections 2012 Results: LDP of Shinzo Abe wins majority of House seats, early projections say Posted: 16 Dec 2012 06:32 AM PST The Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) of Japan, which is being led by former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is now being projected to win the majority of seats in the House of Representatives election this Sunday, December 16, 2012, according to the projection of Japanese public broadcaster NHK, citing the early results of the exit polls.  Japan’s former Prime Minister and Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) leader Shinzo Abe Image Credit: Itsuo Inouye/AP According to NHK this Sunday, early Japan elections results are revealing that the LDP, the country’s main opposition party today, is being predicted to win a landslide victory over the Democratic Party, which is being led by Yoshihiko Noda, the incumbent prime minister. “The LDP has won 222 seats in the 480-member House of Representatives. The LDP‘s coalition partner, New Komeito, has won 24 seats. Together, the 2 parties already have a majority, with 246. NHK projects the final number will be 320.” NHK wrote on their report, with LDP being an opposition party for more than 3 years. “The Democratic Party of Japan led by Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda is likely to suffer a record loss. The party has won only 35 seats and is likely to lose two-thirds of its pre-election strength of 230 seats.” NHK added, noting that voter’s turnout was around 62 percent. Meanwhile, the Japan Restoration Party (JRP), a newly-formed political party being led by former Tokyo Governor Shintaro Ishihara has won 34 seats, with the group being projected to become the 3rd largest party with around 50 seats. Official results are being expected to be announced this Monday. Abe, 56, was elected as Prime Minister of Japan on September 26, 2006 but resigned from his post on September 12, 2007, and reportedly admitted in his press conference that time that he lacked trust from Japanese people; and was replaced by Yasuo Fukuda. Last September 26, he won the LDP presidential election and returned as the party leader. |

Donaire finished off Arce with a second left in the third round. (View some of the fight images below.) Donaire kept his promise that he will knockout Arce and retained his World Boxing Organization Super-Bantamweight belt. The Filipino flash won over the Mexican a week after Juan Manuel Marquez surprised everyone with a sixth round knockout win over Manny Pacquiao. Donaire floored Arce in the second round with a short right but the Mexican was able to get up quickly. In the third round, Arce became more aggressive and started to hit the Filipino. However, Donaire unleashed a combination of a strong right hand and a solid left uppercut that sent Arce to the canvass. The Mexican was able to get up at the count of seven but when fight resumed, Donaire hit Arce with a left hook that sent him down again for good at the 2:59 mark. The Filipino boxer improved his record to 32-1 with 21 via knockouts. Donaire has won four title fights this year and raised his chances of becoming the 2012 Fighter of the Year. According to Donaire, it will be his last fight at 122 pounds. After knocking out Arce, Donaire revealed that he will “gonna go for it (126 pounds) next year.” Arce announced his retirement from boxing after the bout. He ended his career with a 61-7-2 record. The Chinese was reportedly inspired, to create the apocalypse survival pods, by the “2012” Hollywood film. Liu Qiyuan reportedly designed and manufactured several giant tsunami proof survival pods worth about $48,000 each in his workshop outside Beijing. His apocalypse survival pods were made of fiberglass casing and steel frames. Each spherical pod can hold 14 persons. Qiyuan‘s survival pods reportedly contains oxygen tanks, seat belts, food and water supplies. Tolkien manuscripts and memorabilia, according to Associated Press reports, December 16, 2012. Based on reports, this ‘Hobbit House‘ belongs to a lifelong fan of author J.R.R. Tolkien who wanted a worthy and private repository for the rare books and Tolkien-inspired memorabilia he has collected in 30 years of travel in the US and abroad. “We wanted a single structure, a relaxing place that was diminutive in scale, for the owner to come and hang out and just be in solitude with his collection,” architect Peter Archer, speaking on the owner’s behalf, mentioned in a statement. Moreover, the $150,000 cottage has no bathroom, no kitchen, no bedroom and no plumbing and the only thing to do in here is imagine. Based on reports, like Bilbo Baggins from ‘The Hobbit’ Movie, the house is quiet and modest. “Someone had seen this and wanted to build a proper house, and it’s under construction in Tasmania, the other side of the world, as we speak,” Peter Archer added. |

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton Image Credit: CNN video “While suffering from a stomach virus, Secretary Clinton became dehydrated and fainted, sustaining a concussion.” A statement by Deputy Assistant Secretary Philippe Reines reads at State.gov on Saturday, December 15, 2012 on what happened to Mrs. Clinton, but did not provide further details. “She has been recovering at home and will continue to be monitored regularly by her doctors At their recommendation, she will continue to work from home next week, staying in regular contact with Department and other officials. She is looking forward to being back in the office soon.” Reines added. Meanwhile, Jodi Seth, spokeswoman for Sen. John Kerry, Senate Foreign Relations Committee chairman, was quoted in a statement that the team of US Secretary of State has informed the US senator on the Secretary Clinton‘s concussion, informing him that she will not testify before their committee. “Senator Kerry was relieved to hear that the Secretary is on the mend…and that the nation’s best interests are served by the report and hearings proceeding as scheduled with senior officials appearing in her place.” Seth reportedly said. Clinton, 65, who became the US First Lady of the United States from 1993 to 2001, earlier announced that she is not interested in serving a second term as Secretary of State if President Obama will win the re-election. Her term will end next month and Obama is being rumored to nominate Sen. John Kerry to replace her. | NASA probes moon crash: NASA GRAIL Probes to Finish the Moon’s Gravity-Mapping Mission Posted: 15 Dec 2012 05:37 PM PST  NASA GRAIL’s Final Resting Spot Image Credit: NASA/GSFC Two NASA moon probes will finish their gravity-mapping mission, crashing intentionally into a cliff near the lunar North Pole this Monday, December 17, 2012, according to Space.com reports. Based on reports, the Gravity Recovery and Interior Laboratory (GRAIL) spacecraft, Ebb and Flow, will fly low over the moon’s surface and crash into the rim of a crater around 5:28 p.m. EST (22:58 GMT), Monday. The probes will impact about 20 seconds apart, with each traveling at 3,760 mph (6,050 kph) or so, according to mission team members. Reports also mentioned that the controlled crashes have been part of the plan from the mission’s outset, but there will not be any live visuals, because the impacts are going to happen in the dark. “We are not expecting a big flash or a big explosion, okay? These are two small spacecraft. They are, I will use the term ‘apartment-sized washer and dryer-sized’ spacecraft with empty fuel tanks, so we’re not expecting a flash that is visible from Earth", Maria Zuber of Massachusetts Institute of Technology mentioned in a statement during NASA news conference. Ebb and Flow will not be the first craft to crash into the moon, reports added. According to NASA‘s GRAIL mission report, 12 US, Soviet and Japanese spacecraft crashed into the moon’s surface between 1959 and 1993. |
| Church explodes on thieves cutting power cables Posted: 15 Dec 2012 05:31 PM PST  Westway Baptist Church Image Credit: westwaybaptist.org The church power cables explodes on thieves trying to steal them from the main electrical line in Harris County, Houston, according to an ABC News on Thursday, December 13, 2012. (Watch the ABC video below) Michael Kirtley, head deacon of the Westway Baptist Church, explained that the church’s “security alarms went off at 2 a.m. on Wednesday and that’s when our church member Homer Pate notified the Harris County Sheriff‘s department of the robbery.” Reports say that a surveillance camera recording showed a man trying to cut the main power line near the street. An explosion occurred after another man was seen cutting cable wires at the breaker box. Initial investigation results indicated that the bolt cutter caused the explosion when it had contact with the copper wire. According to Kirtley, “The man just blew up into a fire ball. I surely don’t know if he was electrocuted or even alive.” All local medical facilities were alerted by the church as the robbers might seek treatment due to the explosion. The head deacon appealed on medical facilities that “If they encounter someone with suspicious burn wounds, we urge them to inform the authorities.” Any information about the attempted robbery can be given to the church by calling them at (281) 894-4542 or the Harris County Sheriff‘s Office. Due to lack of power, the church canceled all activities scheduled last Wednesday night. The church has rented a generator that they can use for their Sunday services.
