Myrtles Plantation ghost caught on camera behind reporter Vanessa Bolano inside the haunted house? (Video)

Posted: 13 Dec 2012 11:55 AM PST

A “ghost” was caught on camera, as shown in the video below, when a female reporter was inside Myrtles Plantation in Louisiana, which is being touted as “one of America’s most haunted homes.” That time, she was reporting about the legend of the ghost story behind the said house.

Vanessa Bolano, a reporter for the ABC affiliated WGNO in Matairie, Louisiana, was filming a segment inside the French Room of the controversial Myrtles Plantation in St. Francisville, when suddenly a mysterious image appeared and floating behind her but vanished within seconds.

The WGNO reporter said that the strange image was not seen by the cameraman during the filming of the video in that room, which is being widely believed to be the most haunted room of the house. Bolano claimed that she only noticed it later when she was watching the video inside the edit room.

Myrtles Plantation, which was built in 1796, is supposedly the home of at least 12 ghosts, and a slave named Chloe owned by Clark and Sara Woodruff, is being noted as the most famous ghost among the urban legends of the house. This legend is being contested since there was no official record of Chloe.

Back in 2002, Unsolved Mysteries filmed a segment about the alleged ghost sightings inside the Myrtles Plantation. Based on the claims of show host Robert Stack, the production crew encountered various technical difficulties during the production of that ghost story segment.

Meanwhile, the complete investigative story of Vanessa Bolano about the “ghost caught on camera” inside the Myrtles Plantation haunted house will be aired at WGNO-TV‘s “News with a Twist” this coming Friday, December 14, 2012 at 5 p.m. (local time).

Pepsi-chicken chips was launched in China by Pepsico in August and has since become very popular in this country, according to an Oddity Central report on Thursday, December 13, 2012.

The new Pepsico product is a combination of Pepsi Cola and chicken-flavored Frito Lay’s potato chip.

Richard Lee, PepsiCo's chief marketing officer in China, explained that they “thought it would be really cool to have a cola combined with chicken. It's a very popular dish in China. Also it would be very cool to involve one of our most-iconic soft drinks.”

Reports say that in 2010, Lee became the first individual to handle Pepsico‘s operations of the company’s food and beverage brands in China.

Pepsico‘s latest food-fusion is one of the company’s several weird and wacky snack flavors created over the years.

Some of the other chip flavors by Pepsico include lemon tea, watermelon, cucumber and hot-and-sour fish soup.

Several mixed reviews on the Pepsi-chicken chips were reportedly published at the Chinese microblogging site, Weibo.

Track Palin divorce: Sarah Palin’s oldest son files for divorce with wife after 18 months of marriage

Posted: 13 Dec 2012 07:19 AM PST

Track Palin, Sarah Palin‘s oldest son, filed for divorce with his wife, Britta Hanson, after being married for only 18 months. Track married her high school sweetheart Britta last May 2011, and had a daughter named Kyla Grace Palin, who was born on August 6, 2011, or around three months after the wedding.

As noted at TMZ on Wednesday, December 12, 2012, Track and Britta jointly filed the divorce papers in a court in Alaska, suggesting that issues on property division and child custody, including child support, have been settled. It was also confirmed by E! News, noting that the divorce was filed on Saturday, December 1.

On a separate report by TMZ today, Thursday, December 13, divorce documents revealed that Track, an Army reservist, will get the $30,000 Wells Fargo bank account and $500 worth of tools, and a $1,000 gun collection. On the other hand, Britta will be her $2,500 bank account and her $4,000 in jewelry.

In addition, Track, who is a commercial fisherman and reportedly makes $42,800 a year, has agreed to pay $642 a month in child support. The former couple has also agreed to split any other child-related expenses, including medical and travel, TMZ noted. Sarah Palin‘s oldest son plans to study at the University of Alaska.

“Our families couldn’t be happier! These are two hard working, humble, active, studious young adults who grew up together.” A joint statement from both families was quoted at People right after the wedding of Track and Britta, with the ceremony held in Hatcher Pass, Alaska.

Sarah Palin and husband Todd Palin have four other children; Bristol, who gave birth to a baby boy named Tripp back in 2008 with her former fiance Levi Johnston; Willow, 16; Piper, 10, and a 4-year-old boy Tig, whom the former Alaska governor confirmed of having prenatally diagnosed with Down syndrome.

Overweight soldiers: Fat soldiers booted from US Army

Posted: 13 Dec 2012 06:08 AM PST

Fat soldiers booted out of the US Army this year has reached 1,625 through October, according to a report by the Washington Post on Tuesday, December 11, 2012.

Overweight soldiers who failed the fitness tests were being dismissed from service as part of trimming down the military budget and to address “national security.”

The number of fat soldiers booted out this year is reportedly 15 times more than in 2007.

Washington Post reported that the number of overweight or obese active-duty military personnel has tripled between 1998 and 2010.

Pentagon spokesman Commodore Leslie Hull-Ryde explained that “A healthy and fit force is essential to national security. Our service members must be physically prepared to deploy on a moment's notice anywhere on the globe to extremely austere and demanding conditions.”

According to former Navy SEAL and military fitness expert Stew Smith, overweight soldiers were the result of eating “large food portions and a sedentary lifestyle.”

Retired Lt. Gen. Mark Hertling revealed that in 2009, about 75 percent of military aspirants were ineligible, majority of whom were overweight.

The army reportedly reviewed and overhauled its training program in 2010 to combat obesity. Yoga and pilates became part of the military’s fitness program.

By 2017, the Army was given an order to cut down its active-duty force from 570,000 to 490,000.

Google Maps for iPhone returns, now available at Apple App Store

Posted: 13 Dec 2012 03:36 AM PST

The Google Maps app is back at the Apple App Store, and is available again for Apple users; just days after Mildura Police in Australia confirmed that Apple Maps have caused a number of motorists were stranded in the middle of the Murray Sunset National Park in recent weeks due to wrong listing of maps.

As noted at the Apple App Store today, Thursday, December 13, 2012, the free Google Maps app will be available for users of iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation), iPod touch (5th generation) and iPad, and requires iOS 5.1 or later.

According to Apple, Google Maps will be available in 26 languages including English, Catalan, Chinese, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Slovak, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish, Ukrainian, and Vietnamese.

“People around the world have been asking for Google Maps on iPhone. Starting today, we’re pleased to announce that Google Maps is here—rolling out across the world in the Apple App Store.” A statement reads at the official Google blog that day, with the vector-based map providing rotating of 2D and 3D views.

“It’s designed from the ground up to combine the comprehensiveness and accuracy of Google Maps with an interface that makes finding what you’re looking for faster and easier. The app shows more maps on screen and turns mobile mapping into one intuitive experience.” Google added.

Back in September, Apple removed Google Maps over dispute regarding revenue shares, advertising, and the provision of those navigation and vector functions. Apple released the Apple Maps, but earned a lot of complaints from users, citing lack of public transit directions, misplaced landmarks, among others.

Later, Apple CEO Tim Cook apologized and even recommended customers to use other maps from competitors such as from Bing, Nokia, and Google. Last October, iOS VP Scott Forstall and retail VP John Browett were reportedly fired from Apple, and was followed by Maps group manager, Rich Williamson.

New Facebook privacy settings unveiled, changes include Privacy Shortcuts, new Activity Log

Posted: 13 Dec 2012 02:08 AM PST

Facebook formally announced on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 a number of new privacy settings options for their more than 1 billion users worldwide. This latest update comes after Facebook made some changes last August, where new users can select an audience when they sign up for Facebook.

Facebook App Permission

According to a post at Facebook blog this Wednesday, among the new Facebook privacy settings to be implemented include Privacy Shortcuts, a notably easier-to-use Activity Log, and a new Request and Removal tool for managing multiple photos the user is being tagged in.

“We’re also adding new in-product education that makes key concepts around controlling your sharing clearer, such as in-context reminders about how stuff you hide from timeline may still appear in news feed, search, and other places.” Sam Lessin, Facebook product director, wrote at Facebook blog.

“We continue to strive toward three main goals: bringing controls in context where you share, helping you understand what appears where as you use Facebook, and providing tools to help you act on content you don’t like.” Lessin added, noting that these latest changes in Facebook will be available to all at the end of 2012.

As noted in the report, Privacy Shortcuts has three key features; the “Who can see my stuff?” button where users can immediately change who they want to view their status; the “Who can contact me?” link, and the “How do I stop someone from bothering me?” button, or simply how to block someone from Facebook.

For the App Permission, there will be two simultaneous requests that will appear; one is request access to the user’s public profile including friends and email addresses, and the other asking to post on the user’s friend on his or her behalf, with Facebook that this is not applicable to all apps, such as games apps.

Meanwhile, the updated Activity Log aims to make it easier for Facebook users to see the things posted on their profile page, make changes to the audience of past photos and other posts, and choose what appears on their timelines, along with the easier review of Likes, comments, and photos the user is being tagged in.

On the other hand, the Request and Removal tool will be used to request other users to remove them from the photos they were being tagged in; and will allow users to immediately untag themselves in multiple photos. However, these photos can still appear in other places on Facebook, including others’ timelines.

The video, as shown below, is supposed to be published on December 22, 2012 as it is titled “Why the World Didn’t End Yesterday.”

“December 22, 2012. If you're watching this video it means one thing. The world didn't end yesterday. According to media reports of an ancient Mayan prophecy the world was supposed to be destroyed on December 21, 2012. But look around you. The whole thing was a misconception from the very beginning,” the NASA apocalypse video started.

It then explains the ideas behind the Mayan calendar and quoted several scientists and researchers debunking the Mayan apocalypse belief.

The NASA apocalypse video also assured the viewers that currently, there is no threat to Earth’s safety, either from a rogue planet or from the sun’s solar flares.

Lady Gaga’s little sister Natali Germanotta models for Viral Fashion at family’s restaurant (Photo and Video)

Posted: 12 Dec 2012 11:12 PM PST

Natali Germanotta, Lady Gaga‘s little sister, recently posed for Viral Fashion Holiday 2012, as shown in the photos below. The event was held at Joanne Trattoria, the Upper West Side restaurant owned by the Germanotta family. A behind-the-scenes video of the photo shoot is also available below.

Natali, who was born March 10, 1992 in New York City, appeared in a cameo role as a prisoner inmate in Lady Gaga‘s “Telephone” music video back in 2010. She studied at Convent of the Sacred Heart, the same school that Stefani Germanotta, Lady Gaga‘s real name, has attended.

“Everything about the shoot was over the top from the oversized meatballs and the 20 pound fish on the table to the big hair and jewelry.” Christian Fleres, Viralfashion.com creative director, was quoted at Daily Mail, noting that the photos shoot was an ode to 1950′s Italian Cinema.

“We had drama in mind the whole time, for that day everyone was playing the superhero version of themselves.” Fleres added, with Natali now studying a fashion design course at Parsons The New School for Design in New York City. The photos were taken by Marvin Joseph, and clothes were from Alaia, J Mendel, and Proenza Schouler.

Back in September 2011, Natali Germanotta, who was then 19 years old, appeared in the September issue of Teen Vogue magazine, and talked about her herself and her opinion on the fashion style of her elder sister, Lady Gaga, noting their parents gave them freedom on how they want to dress themselves.
