Alien-like skulls found in a 1,000-year-old cemetery in Mexico revealed the practice of deforming skulls of children in Central America. The analysis of the 25 alien-like skulls found in the area was reportedly completed by scientists in November.

The human skulls were intentionally designed to look like that of an alien. These alien-like skulls were deformed, elongated, pointy at the back and others had mutilated teeth.

Scientist explained that the discovery of the alien-like skulls is a manifestation that the practice of deforming skulls has influenced the northern part.

The ancient cemetery, called El Cementerio, was uncovered by Onavas residents in 1999 while they were building an irrigation canal in this Mexican village.

Reports say that El Cementerio was the first pre-Hispanic cemetery found in the state of Sonora.

Cristina Garcia Moreno, an archaeologist at Arizona State University, revealed that “Cranial deformation has been used by different societies in the world as a ritual practice, or for distinction of status within a group or to distinguish between social groups.” She added that “The reason why these individuals at El Cementerio deformed their skulls is still unknown.

The discovery of alien-like skulls include 17 children with an estimated age of 5 months to 16 years-old. Some of the skeletons found in the area contained earrings, nose rings, bracelets, pendants and necklaces made from seashells and snails.

Moreno also said that “The most common comment I’ve read from people that see the pictures of cranial deformation has been that they think that those people were ‘aliens.’ I could say that some say that as a joke, but the interesting thing is that some do think so. Obviously we are talking about human beings, not of aliens.”

Researchers were aiming to get more to help them in their study of burial customs in the area. New finding will them “determine whether there was any interaction between these and Mesoamerican societies — how it was and when it happened.”

Moreno said that they plan to submit their findings to either the journal American Antiquity or the journal Latin American Antiquity.

Do you agree to researchers’ plan of digging up more burials for their study? Or what they have found may be enough? You may provide

Swimmers Ride Dying Whale in Florida Beach

Posted: 21 Dec 2012 02:34 PM PST

Swimmers ride a dying whale at the Pompano beach in South Florida on Sunday, December 16, 2012. Reports say that two swimmers were photographed while they alternately ride the sick sperm whale.

The 35-foot-long whale later died off the coast of an Atlantic beach.

As of posting, Florida officials are still investigating the reported whale ride by the beachgoers.

Investigators are using the photos taken by a woman witness that took the picture of the two beachgoers while she was at a nearby condo.

Blair Mase, NOAA‘s southeast marine mammal stranding coordinator explained that under the Marine Mammal Protection act, the beachgoers actions were illegal.

Initial examination of the dead whale reportedly did not show anything unusual. Mase said that further investigation by the wildlife officials was only triggered by the whale-riding report and solidified by the images by the woman witness.

Facebook $1 Fee: Facebook’s “Small Experiment” Charges $1 Fee To Send Messages To Non-Friend

Would you pay $1 to contact someone in Facebook not directly connected to you and reach their Inbox? Like a speaker from a seminar you recently attended, or a celebrity you really adore?

Apparently, you can do it if Facebook‘s “small experiment” gets positive results and become part of Facebook Messages features. According to Facebook‘s recent blog post, they started a small experiment to “give a small number of people the option to have a message routed to the Inbox rather than the Other folder of a recipient that they are not connected with.”

Currently, when you send a message to a person you are not connected with, your message will fall on the “Other” folder, a folder no one bothers to look into. With the paid messaging feature, you can be sure your message will reach the Inbox folder of your recipient.

Facebook said that the experiment is being done for personal messages between individuals in the United States. Wall Street Journal reported that the cost for sending such message is $1, but Facebook is also planning to tinker with prices.

This move of Facebook seems like a good move. This will discourage spammers from continuously sending spam messages to you.

What do you think of this experiment? Should this feature become a standard feature of Facebook Messages? Tell us your ideas on the comment box below.

Sydney destroyed by Mayan apocalypse, not photoshopped picture at Reddit confirms? (Photo)

Sydney, Australia was destroyed by the so-called Mayan apocalypse today, Friday, December 21, 2012, which was earlier predicted to be the “end of the world” and was believed by many, particularly those who rush to Mount Rtanj in Serbia, hoping to be saved by the mystical energies allegedly being emitted by the mountain.

“Not photoshoped photo of Sydney at the moment.” Reddit user colt1hryh wrote a few hours ago, (Yes, the word photoshopped had the wrong spelling) along with the obviously photoshopped picture of Sydney Opera House being attacked by fire balls, while a rescue helicopter with an Aussie flag is in action.

The funny thing is that the “not photoshopped photo” of Sydney being destroyed by the Mayan apocalypse posted at Reddit is now receiving a lot of troll comments, with most of them pretending that they believe the photo is real and authentic. Below are some of them. (Assuming that no one noticed Godzilla was on the side lol!)

“I completely believe that photoshop was not used to create this image.”

“I’m a scientist and I can confirm that your picture is legit.”

“I have no qualifications and I can confirm that this picture is legit.”

“I’ve seen a lot of shops in my day and I can confirm this picture has pixels.”

“I’m an ancient Mayan and I can also offer confirmation that said image is correct.”

“I am a photoshop expert and I can confirm that it’s impossible for someone to have photo shopped by paying attention to such details.”

“I’m an Australian, and I can confirm your picture is legit.”

“I actually live in that apartment building and can confirm there is a large gorilla reeking havoc outside.”

Meanwhile, for an equally important and related news, there were reports that Mayan apocalypse did not happen in New Zealand, which can somehow be a proof that the photo here is photoshopped. And as of this writing, no place on earth is reported to have encountered the “end of the world” (And they missed again…)
