Kate Middleton, who is less than 12 weeks pregnant with her first child, was discharged from King Edward VII Hospital in London on Thursday, December 6, 2012, where she received treatment for “acute morning sickness.” The Duchess of Cambridge said she now feels better, after spending four days in the hospital.

According to the Daily Mail this Thursday, Kate Middleton left the hospital at around 10:45 a.m. (London time) that day, along with Prince William, who arrived around 30 minutes earlier to fetch her. The royal couple was photographed outside the hospital, and Kate told the reporters, “I’m feeling much better. Thank you.”

“The Duchess of Cambridge has been discharged from the King Edward VII Hospital and will now head to Kensington Palace for a period of rest. Their Royal Highnesses would like to thank the staff at the hospital for the care and treatment the Duchess has received.” Kate‘s team of writers was quoted in a statement.

As noted in the report, among those who visited Kate in the hospital include her younger siblings, James and Pippa Middleton, and their mother, Carole Middleton, who was seen on Wednesday, at around 7:30 p.m., around four hours after the Middleton siblings arrived. The pregnant Duchess was confined last Monday.

Last Tuesday, two Australian radio DJs, Mel Greig and Michael Christian, made a prank call to the hospital. They were able to talk to one of Kate‘s nurses, and their conversation was aired on their radio program Hot30 Countdown. Later, Michael apologized via Twitter, so as the hospital via their spokesman.

Meanwhile, Prince Charles reportedly told reporters that he is excited to become a grandfather at 64, adding that he is glad to know that her daughter-in-law is getting better. But when he was asked about Kate‘s health condition, he jokingly replied, “How do you know, I’m not a radio station?”

“You think your world is safe. It is an illusion, a comforting lie to protect you.” Cumberbatch was heard on the first part of the ‘Star Trek‘ teaser. He is being rumored to portray the role of Khan Noonien Singh (or simply Khan), and there is no official statement yet from Paramount Pictures and movie producers as to whether it is true.

“Enjoy these final moments of peace, for I have returned to have my vengeance. So, shall we begin?” Cumberbatch added, with the Star Trek teaser also having a Japanese version that is a bit longer than the English version, and has additional seconds of footage in the latter part.

Star Trek Into Darkness, directed by J.J. Abrams, will be released on May 17, 2013 in 3D, 2D and IMAX 3D US theaters. Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, Zoe Saldana, Anton Yelchin, Simon Pegg, and John Cho will be reprising their roles, and will be joined by other stars, including Bruce Greenwood as Christopher Pike.

As noted at Cinema Blend also this Thursday, the Star Trek teaser Japanese version has Cumberbatch saying “Is there anything you would not do for your family?” and a scene of two palms reaching each other in a mirror. A synopsis via Apple iTunes Movie Trailers is available below.

In Summer 2013, pioneering director J.J. Abrams will deliver an explosive action thriller that takes Star Trek Into Darkness. When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis.

With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction. As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.

John Travolta Olivia Newton-John “I Think You Might Like It” music video released, earns mixed reactions (Video)

Posted: 06 Dec 2012 02:09 AM PST

The “I Think You Might Like It” music video, which features the John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John reunion, has been released on Wednesday, December 5, 2012, as shown in the video below. The song is part of their ‘This Christmas’ album, which was released on November 12, 2012, with all proceeds to go to charity.

Christmas” album cover

Travolta and Newton-John, who became an iconic movie love team in their 1978 movie ‘Grease‘ where they played the roles of Danny Zuko and Sandy Olsen, collaborated on the said album, which also features special performances by Barbra Streisand, James Taylor, Tony Bennett, and Kenny G.

The song “I Think You Might Like It” was written by John Farrar, who also wrote the song “You’re the One That I Want,” which they also performed in the film “Grease.” It became an international hit sold over 6 million copies in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, and France alone.

Meanwhile, in the “I Think You Might Like It” music video, Travolta, 58, can be seen driving his own private jet and Newton-John, 64, on a classic convertible with a bunch of Christmas gifts beside her, as the two prepares for their holiday reunion. Both wear black shirts and jeans, and were seen dancing together in some scenes.

The music video, which was reportedly shot in Ocala, Florida, where John Travolta lives, also features his wife, Kelly Preston, their daughter Ella Bleu (12), and son, Benjamin (2), along with two US soldiers-actors, and elderly pair, and others, with the theme of reuniting the family during the holiday season.

Nevertheless, there were various mixed reactions from observers, good and bad. While there were those excited to see them reunite again after their 1983 movie ‘Two of a Kind,’ which earned mostly negative reviews, some commentators do not like a lot of things, particularly Travolta‘s chin hair and wallet chain.

As aired at CBS on Wednesday night, Taylor Swift and LL Cool J hosted the first of its kind show dubbed as “The Grammy Nominations Concert Live!! — Countdown To Music’s Biggest Night,” at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, where the nominees for the 55th Annual Grammy Awards were announced.

On the first part of the show, Taylor and LL came on stage as Swift‘s hit song “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” was being played, and the audience gave them a very warm applause. The 22-year old country singer said she is excited to see people visiting Nashville, where she stays since she was 14.

“This is going to be terrible, I am only doing this for you.” Taylor Swift told LL Cool J, who teased her to show him again her beatbox skills, and that he will sing a few lines from her song ‘Mean,’ saying, “I can’t sing, so we’re even.” The six-time Grammy Award singer then started her beatbox with an “Uh.”

As Taylor is doing the beatboxing with some hand motions ala-rapper style and shouts “Nashville,” LL sang her a few lines of ‘Mean.’ With the crowd screaming from start to end, LL can be smiling but Taylor looked awkward afterwards, saying, “I’m one hundred percent sure we we’re not gonna be nominated for that collaboration.”

According to Daily Mail on Wednesday, December 5, 2012, Mel Greig and Michael Christian of 2Day FM, a Sydney radio station, made a prank call at around 5:30 a.m. (local time) last Tuesday to King Edward VII Hospital in London, where pregnant Kate Middleton was brought due to acute morning sickness.

As noted in the report, Greig impersonated the voice of Queen Elizabeth and Christian imitated Prince Charles‘ voice on their Hot30 Countdown radio show. Later, they called the said hospital, and their conversation with one of Kate‘s private nurses, who thought that the phone call was real and authentic.

“Are they putting us through? If this has worked, it’s the easiest prank call we’ve ever made. Your accent sucked, by the way.” Michael Christian was heard on the audio, telling to Mel Greig before the call was answered. Barking sounds made by the two DJs can be heard in the background, when the nurse received the call and replied politely.

“She’s sleeping at the moment and she has had an uneventful night. She’s been given some fluids; she’s stable at the moment. I would suggest that any time after nine o’clock will be suitable to visit. We’ll be getting her freshened up.” The unsuspecting nurse told them, giving details about the status of the Duchess of Cambridge.

King Edward VII Hospital Sister Agnes can confirm that an Australian radio station made a hoax call to the hospital in the early hours of Tuesday morning.” A hospital spokesman was quoted telling to Daily Mail, with King Edward VII Hospital CEO John Lofthouse also confirming the report.

“This call was transferred through to a ward and a short conversation was held with one of the nursing staff. King Edward VII Hospital deeply regrets this incident.” The spokesman added, with the radio station and Michael Christian later apologizing for the prank call.

“Just on our royal prank call…We were very surprised that our call was put through. We thought we’d be hung up on as soon as they heard our terrible accents. We’re very sorry if we’ve caused any issues and we’re glad to hear that Kate is doing well.” Michael Christian (@MContheradio) tweeted.

Space spider, Nefertiti, dies in an exhibit at the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C., according to a news report by Smithsonian on Monday, December 3, 2012.

The space spider is reportedly the first jumping spider to survive a trip in space.

According to the Smithsonian announcement, “It is with sadness that we announce the death of Nefertiti, the ‘Spidernaut.’”

Last July 2012, the International Space Station (ISS) launched the “Johnson Jumper” (“Phidippus johnsoni“) spider as part of a student-initiated science experiment. The 18-year-old Amr Mohamed from Alexandria, Egypt was reportedly behind the experiment.

Nefertiti, named in honor of an ancient queen of Egypt, reportedly survived in the ISS for 100 days.

After its successful space mission, Nefertiti was turned over to the Natural History Museum late in October and was made available for public viewing last November 29.

Smithsonian explained that “This morning [Dec. 3], before museum hours, a member of the Insect Zoo staff discovered Neffi had died of natural causes. Neffi lived for 10 months. The lifespan of the species … can typically reach up to one year.”
